Veg Box Scheme Manager

Purpose

We’re looking for a passionate, organised and values-driven Manager to lead our cooperative organic veg box delivery scheme, bringing fresh, seasonal produce to our community.

Role

As Manager, you will have the responsibility to oversee the running the veg box scheme, ensure it is running efficiently, providing an excellent customer experience and meeting our values and mission as an organisation. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the cooperative, supporting its growth and strengthening its community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support weekly veg box ordering, packing and delivery operations
  • Manage a team of 12 part-time staff to ensure high staff well-being and effective timetabling
  • Manage budgets and financial reporting to our Board of Directors
  • Lead marketing, outreach, and customer service efforts
  • Ensure health and safety and compliance with food handling regulations, including our certification by the Soil Association
  • To take the lead on the strategic development of the Regather Fruit & Veg Box scheme
  • Skills & Experience

    Essential Skills

  • Excellent organisational and logistical skills. Systems thinking and problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills. Experience in team leadership and customer service.
  • Passion for local, organic food and cooperative values
  • Financial literacy and ability to manage budgets
  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems (e.g. excel spreadsheets, mail merge, email, databases, learning new software)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise long-term tasks and goals
  • Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and the UK food system.
  • Experience working in a cooperative or social enterprise
  • Marketing or social media experience
  • Experience in sales and market expansion
  • Creativity for identifying opportunities for business development
  • Working Hours

    Minimum of 24 hours per week (option to increase up to 30 through additional packing or delivery shifts) with some flexibility between Monday - Friday Probationary Period: 6 months

    Remuneration & Benefits

    You will be paid an hourly rate of £12.60.
    28 days pro rata
