Lansdowne Estate Gardening Club
The Lansdowne Estate Gardening Club is a new project in partnership with the National Lottery fund and the Landworkers Alliance. The mission is to help communities access healthier food options, making fresh fruit and veg available for residents to harvest themselves. Working alongside our neighbours at Regather, residents of Lansdowne Estate, we hope to introduce edible planting that will improve the quality of the greenspaces on this urban estate.

Since the start of May we have run weekly gardening workshops - the Lansdowne Estate Gardening Club - every Sunday from 10am - 1pm. In these workshops the community comes together to plant fruit and vegetables and then, to thank them for their efforts, Regather provide a light lunch afterwards. Eating together being an important part of building personal connections with each other and better relationships with locally produced food.
Feedback from locals has been positive, with residents and others who walk through the neighbourhood sharing their thanks for the care being shown towards their local greenspace. We want to do more and to do that we need regular volunteer support - many hands make light work! Anyone is welcome to be involved, no previous experience is necessary, but we are especially keen to recruit local volunteers from around Sharrow and Highfield / Lowfield.
